Blank CD's & DVD's
What most people do not know is that most blank CD's/DVD's have no protective coating on the top where you write the info/label. What you are writing on is the actual layer of tin or aluminum that the laser is writing on. If you take a standard CD/DVD and scratch the top you'll see that you can see through the disc. In the picture below I scratched both discs, on the right you'll see just scratches on the coating but the one on the left you'll see the scratches also took out the aluminum coating making the disc useless (excuse the glare, it's hard to get a good shot of something so shiny.

I use regular DVD's and CD's for music, movies and other things that aren't too important, but for anything I want to keep I use thermal lacquer coated blanks. I used to use Sony for important data but they stopped coating the tops so now I have to order online.
For regular blanks the best thing is to go to best buy and get whatever is on sale, 50 DVD blanks is usually about $12.
For the good blanks I go to Meritline.com CLICK HERE for DVD's

INK
Printers are cheap now days, and the reason for that is companies like Canon, Lexmark and especially HP make tons of money from over charging on ink. HP is the worst, they've been caught making printers that will tell you you're out of ink and stop printing when there is still plenty of ink and these same printers sometimes refuse to accept refilled cartridges or ink from other companies.
Anyway, if you want to save money on ink you can maybe go to a place that refills cartridges but the best savings I found are with megatoners.com and LD Producrs

Laptop Computers
Customers often ask me where to buy a laptop so I thought I'd put it here. I prefer to get a laptop from Best Buy. I do not care for Geek Squad service but when you buy a laptop I do recommend their black tie protection. From an article I read, and it was reputable, laptops have a 30% failure rate in the first year, that is all except Toshiba and Asus, they were better, I can't remember but it wasn't as bad as 30%. SO, I recommend getting an Asus or Toshiba from Best Buy and get the black tie protection. What this protection does is protect the hardware. I don't know if the policy has changed, but when I bought my wife's laptop I bought the 4 year protection and they told me it's protected now against anything for 4 years. If she drops it in the bathtub, it's protected. If she drops something on it, it's protected. Laptops are very fragile and in my opinion this is worth the few extra dollars.
This does not protect the software. If you get a virus you'll still end up coming to me, but at least you will not be buying parts.
